i dont know if this has been brought up before but i currently own 3 sako 75s and am quite happy with them but the coopers are really starting to burn a hole in my side, ive never handled 1 and have no way to without driving many miles.......so if you have handled and owned or tried both....is the cooper better or not?thanks in advance for the replies

With the exception of checking out Cooper rifles on their website, I've never had, shot or even seen one. My experience with Sakos is slightly better in that I've had two, and still have one. It's in 270 Win. and I'll likely hang onto it,
for a while.
No dought that both are great quality rifles. I have a Sako 85 Bavarian and three Coopers, but the Coopers beat the Sako for accuracy. It dosen't seem what I load for the Coopers the bloody guns like every load that I make. As for the Sako, it has been a little challenging, but finally I have a great load using Accurate Arms Powder #4350.
I have 3 varmint laminate rifles, a Sako 75 222, Sako 85 204 and a Cooper 6mm. I would not get rid of any of them and when I go to the safe to take one out I chose it for the job I intend it for by caliber and not by brand. Personally I don't think you can go wrong with either one and if you want a Cooper you should buy one as I don't think you will be disappointed. I know the next major rifle purchase I make will be another Cooper unless I find the Sako I'm looking for in the mean time.

I don't own a Cooper, but I own a Sako 85 Bavarian carbine in 30-06 which I love.
Just took delivery of my new Cooper today. It's an excalibur with stainless barrel and action. I cannot believe how nice it is. The fit and finish are top notch and it is a beauty to shoulder. I love Sakos as well but wanted something different. After handling the Cooper I can comfortably say it is nicer than the Sako in composite. If you are looking at a wood stock then its not even close. Copper all the way. I am very happy with my decision and Clay at Prophet River was great to deal with.

When you handle a Cooper, you get this vaguely uneasy that your other rifles were shipped 2 days before they finished building them. No trigger job needed, no bedding to do,specify your LOP. All you have to do is shoot it. Its kind of refreshing, and it doesn't cost that much more.

How sweet it is!! I'm a member of that club, as well as the Chemainus club. I haven't been that active in recent years but I was there when the present range facility was built. We, the handgun sector, started out at an indoor range that used to be located where the parking lot across form the old 'Zoo' where they hold a farmers market at the road junction that is by the reserve in town, heading to Glenora. I'm older than dirt.I appreciate the offer

It's odd that there isn't a dealer for Coopers on the west coast. I had bought this one on a close out sale through WSS, and it was the last one of the classics in 30-06. My pal went out and picked up one in custom classic and I was stunned at the lumber it came with. Although I'm not a fan of the roeswood fore end style of rifles, the fiddle back wood on the rest of the stock was incredible. Needless to say, they've both been out in the dirty west coast weather and look much better with some use on them =].
