OK Guys what did I catch on trail cam

Home ranges can be quite large, but change depending on trapping effort, season and part of the world. Across north America, they have found home ranges to be 16-30 km^2.
Man those things have great fur!

Both are close relatives to the Cougar, in that they frequent prey rich environments. The difference is that the Fisher is larger (quite a but larger) and less aggressive , while the Marten is much smaller, but can be described as "fugly" and can actually scare it's prey away. Unlike the Cougar, which prefers wine or beer, Fishers prefer Scotch and Martens go straight to Coolers. Both are known to leave their prey exhausted and wet after a long chase, and if successful, unable to straddle a horse.

I'm going to have to go to "Canuckistan" and check out these critters for myself. They sound like some lady friends I know.
Google "Wolverine foundation" Lots of real good information here. They did a study of wolverine populations in Ontario in 2004. The results can be seen here, lots of good photos, range maps etc.

..who can remember (trappers?) one of those being worth 300$'s? They do have the finest of fur. 20+years ago, local trappers would scour the land for 'em... Now, I can see 'em easily (couple a year...)
Who was filled with stories of them being soooooo aggressive they'd kill but, not eat? Turns out, it ain't true...

It's a fisher.
it is 100% a fisher. Skinned my fair share out for my grandfather, and uncles trap lines. Hard to judge the size , and teh fur would not make A+ grade but he looks like a nice fellow anyway.

I know this is redundant, but that is sooo much a Fisher!! We see them here frequently. They often "walk" like that, but when they are covering ground, they "lope" like the other members of the Mustelid family. Eagleye.

Yup, back in '79-80 they were worth quite a bit, as were lynx.
The danged things are oversized weasels, and ruined more sets for me than anything.
Cat
In my experience it is true. I have found where a fisher will find a denned and sleeping raccoon , pull them out of thier dens and kill them. Never to be eaten.
Plus you have to have a pretty nasty side to you to succesfully prey on and eat porqupine. I have never skinned a fisher with quills in it but I know lots of trappers who have.
