OK I am bragging.....mount pics posted

Very nice Doug. Glad to see the taxidermist did your buck justice. You could always measure and score it yourself but with that shrinkage thing you have experienced with age it may take a while measuring it 3" at a time, though bending the measuring device around the curves should no longer be an issue at your age..............:D

Right on all counts, Frank...........

Doug, I just came across this thread and wanted to congratulate you. A great deer and a great mount. I got my biggest 3 or 4 years ago too under weird circumstances after many years of hunting. It's in my avatar. It's actually quite easy to score a deer if you have a narrow steel measuring tape. I've done a couple and one can easily get it to within an inch if you follow the instructions (mine was pro scored after at a game dinner). Get a copy of the score sheet and have at 'er.

No thanks, I am not about to even ATTEMPT to score this myself. When a PROFESSIONAL scorer does it, and the score is well north of 200, nobody can say it was my personal bias. Even if I give him a small gift like a Swarovski scope or something...... :D

He is a smasher, and I am guessing his live weight was probably 300 pounds. Fortunately I do not own a set of scales, so by next season he may be approaching 400 pounds on the hoof. :p

Lol, that's perfect! Congrats on a magnificent buck!

I hate hunting with the Poop Fairy.:D

Doug

I can make that buck as big as your dreams for a Swarovski.....
Nice job on the buck buck......:)

Nicely done Doug... Most people hunt a lifetime and never see a buck like that.

Good for you and I am a bit jealous!!

Great pics and beautiful mount Doug. Thus the reason for Dougs spring gun sale - to pay the taxidermist ???

Its nice to see you have a true story teller after all your years of hunting and shooting. I may have to drive down just to see it !!

well deserved and great to see it happened to one of the truely "good guy's " on this site.

I had mine scored by FROW in Ontario, who produce (or did 3-4 years ago) the Ontario record book for big game, something to consider Doug as it makes a nice addition to the mount, a score sheet and spot in the book.

Thanks bud!

The FROW scoreer told me he is certain that this buck will make the record book..........but we'll see what the numbers are when he actually does the scoring. he has only seen pictures so far.

250 lb was the doe's FIELD DRESSED weight, of course! :p

I am OK thanks buddy. Ice fishing yesterday, maybe one more day before we lose our shoreline ice and I do not have a jetboat or helicopter either, so hard water season is just about done. :(

But turkeys are just around the corner.................:D
