hey all...im about to get my first load of powder :D ...from reading all the postings here, ive come up with these two powders....i,ll let you,s all decide for me :D .........so here we go another poll eh
im bouncing back and forth from the 4350 or the 4064....this is from what i read in a ton of topic,s on reloading......please feel free to add a favorite of your own powders :D
i will be using a 30-06 in a remington either a 760 or a 7600 using 180 grain partition,s
cheer,s and thank you all
Don

Without question go with the 4350, either Hodgsons or IMR.

If your rifle doesn't shoot the 180s well with 4350 there is something wrong with it! LoL

Wow that's a tough one they are both really good 06 powders.
I would buy the IMR4350 and then go back and buy the 4064 because I wouldn't be able to live with myself thinking that the other is better
bigbull

just kidding buy the 4350.

Well I got to admit when I tried IMR 4350 with Horn 180s ina new Tikka 06 the best vel I could get with-out pressure was 2700. Maybe be a quirk or something but slower powders still worked best in that gun.

I voted for IMR 4064. While I don't have a 30-06, I have used it in a 30-30 Winchester and 303 British. Will be loading it up in a 308 Winchester next. It was my first rifle powder and I picked it after reading some manuals and finding loads for both rifle calibers and my local gun shop had a pound of it in stock.

Just pick one, its only $30 or so. (IIRC) Not worth wasting too much time deciding if your just starting out reloading. You'll likely want to try something different next time anyways unless you get superduper performance. Part of the fun, no?

one of the votes for the 4064 does not count  as i voted for that in order to see the vote
thanks to all that have helped me in my quest to start reloading by showing and teaching me the tricks of the trade, and also a big thank you to those that sold me the gear and the manual,s :D
cheers all......hope to buy you,s all a beer someday :D

Don't open ths can and sniff the powder too much then. All the nitro fumes will lower your blood pressure to the point you will be woody-less! ;) LoL

Well, I voted for the 4350 just cause it has to be better than the 4064 - in my rifle anyways. I'm shooting a Sako 75 S/S .30-06 and the 4064 was a waste of my time. Accuracy was weak at best and velocity wasn't there either. Am getting great accuracy from 4895 (1/2" or less at max load) but velocity is still down. Am picking up a pound of 4350 on Monday to try and work up a load in that before I go away hunting at the end of the month - hoping for comparable accuracy as the 4895 but with an extra couple hundred fps. Will let you know what I come up with.

Cheers :D

With that choice I would use the 4350, but I like IMR4831 with magnum primers in my .30-06 Parker-Hale. IMR4831 gave me the best velocity & was also best for accuracy. The 4831 seemed to have not so sharp a recoil as well, I think because it's a slower powder & pressure builds slower.
