Today is the day that I am joining the black rifle family; I am buying a Norinco M4! I have been contemplating it for some time now and have finally made my decision (and come up with the cash, lol).

I do have a few questions though. After reading through many of the posts concerning the Norc M4, I am wondering about the different "batches" offered (fit and finish issues), and if there are any dealers in particular who seem to have the "better" ones. Don't get me wrong, I am not looking for perfection; if I was I'd probably save up and buy a Stag or RRA. I am simply concerned with being able to use a CMMG .22 conversion kit with no problems, having a properly aligned front sight and the rifle functioning properly.

If any of you Norc M4 owners could help me out, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Chippa 22LR dedicated upper's work 100% with this rifle and everything else is cosmetic. So far I haven't heard or seen any epic failures just a lack of Q.C. on a few parts.

Congrats on the purchase! Odds are you'll get a better one than mine. You can see the brush marks on mine from when they painted it. The latest ones look very good.

I got my M4 from Frontier and am very happy with it. I also bought the CMMG .22 conversion right away from Questar and couldnt be happier. The guns look great, all I can say is that the painted ARs from Norinco last year must have looked pretty horrible because so many people seem to be concerned with how crappy the new ones "could" look like. I swapped out my brother in laws DPMS upper with my lower and you have to look carefully to tell its not the complete gun. Dont get me wrong its not flawless. I cant speak for other peoples Norinco but if I could describe mine I would say that it looks like when it was prepped for the annodizing they didnt do a final buffing or polishing of the upper and lower. Some of the edges are a little sharp but you would have to compare it to a western one to see what i mean. Having said that though it runs like a charm and is acurate. I sold my CZ 858 to buy this and considering they are about the same price as the Norinco it is so much funner of a gun and I loved my 858! I know the 7.62 ammo is cheap but .22 is even cheaper. And now I have a gun that shoots 5.56, .223, .22.

I picked mine up from marstar, and the quality is fantastic. It looks great, and it is anodized so it wont flake like the previous ones.

Where about in NB do you live?

Marstar is sold out of theirs at the moment... Might have to look elsewhere.

oh, and I live in Burton :)

I got the first batch at the ~900$ price.
The commons consensus is that the first batch were hit and miss in the cosmetic section. I did not find it all that bad.
Mechanically, both batches are excellent.

My suggestion is to go out and buy one before you miss the boat on this one.
Who knows how many more are on their way.

burton eh.. thats relatively close to fredericton. I have one if you wanted to try shooting before you buy. but to be honest u should just pick one up w:h:

Try calling or emailing Ellwood Epps. I am pretty sure they ship all across the country. Good to deal with and fair. I bought mine there this fall but for me they are local. I am pretty sure they have a bunch still in stock.

As for Marstar, they seem good too but honestly every time I see something, anything on their site, it is sold out. They must move a lot of stock.
