Just curious, but if you consider yourself to be a high miler, how many rounds have you got on your M-305? Any notes on parts showing the effects of high useage?

I have one m305 with approximately 2000 rounds through her second barrel...first barrel saw about 5000. Only parts I've replaced are the operating rod (the small lug that rides the bottom channel of the receiver started to wear) and the op rod spring. Rebuilt her with USGI parts at approximately 1000 rounds, only because I fell victim to the "my #### will fall off if it isn't USGI" virus some time back. I have other Norincos in stock condition (except for the stock....I run all USGI fiberglass or SAGE) that perform almost as well and are showing no signs of wear....

Somebody has been studying their Hungry M-14 Clinic DVDs!!! :D

At 100,000 rounds, will a Norinco be alive or in the junk pile? That's what I call high mileage. 1000 or 2000 rounds is a day at the range! Barely broken in!

A standard chrome-moly steel barrel in .308 Win is usually good for 5,000 rnds before serious degradations in accuracy occur. The Norinco barrels are chrome plated, so as to extend barrel life and to better prepare them for harsh conditions/use, the same as most military small arms. As such, you can expect far longer barrel life from the Norinco barrel compared to your standard sporting rifle barrel.

One of my early Norc's has over 10,000 through the bbl, I had it shortened and replaced a long headspace bolt with another Norc bolt that gives me a 1.634 headspace. The bbl still gauges at 2.5 TE and still shoots great.

If there were problems with barrel life I'm sure we would have heard of it by now. People are very quick to complain about any product when they find a flaw/shortcoming. I can't say that I've really read much bad stuff about the M305's, so I think we're good with our Norc's. Good question though.
