ok, let's whack the beehive - light speed swinger discussion

I'm a little tired of hearing that.

A coin toss is the same for everyone, are we going to decided matches with that now? Probably now. Why not? Because it has little to do with shooting ability, regardless how equal it is for everyone.

Coin tosses are not a part of IPSC, swingers are, at any speed. Besides, coins just don't look as cool sitting in my holster.:p ;) :D

hmm, interesting. Obviously not the angle the shooter would see, and still don't know the distance. But the drop turners look like they had a good exposure time.
Was it possible to game the stage by getting two good hits on each of the droppers and just throwing one shot at the bobber. then it would be an 11 round stage and the score from the droppers would cancel out any penalties on the bobber.

Does that incur a penalty for failure to engage?, or if you at least shoot one round does that cover the engage part?
I think I would engage it last. (bobber).

Not "engage"

Just to point out, there is no such thing as a "failure to engage".

Rule 9.5.6
A competitor who fails to shoot at the face of each scoring target in a course of fire with at least one round will incur one procedural penalty per target for failure to shoot at the target, as well as appropriate penalties for misses (see Rule 10.2.7).

My only question about that entire stage is, where's the relevance?

Once you get too many "timed" targets in a stage, if you don't speed something up enough to make it challenging even for the top shooters, you run the risk of having a stage winner, then a whole bunch of the top shooters with 99.99% of his score, and a big gap down to the less experienced shooters. The top shooters would be waiting for the drop targets and would all be shooting on the same swing on the bobber.

FWIW, I like those types of stages, I can miss with the best.;) In the end, someone wins the stage, and as Pops said, the rest of us have to suck it up and move on.

Or get better.;)
