Ok what do I do with the sling swivel stud.

I am putting my first rig together. I am wondering if the sling swivel stud at the rear of the stock should be removed so that it rides the rear bag better.

If it's a concern you might consider the flush mount style quick disconnect sling swivel fittings. You can still use a sling, and just remove it when your shooting off the bag.

That is what I did.

Just a word of warning though. Those little bearings can rust and and when that happens they do no want to part company with the stock. Left long enough I imagine you would have to drill them out.

If it is never used with a sling GET RID OF IT! It will interfere with tracking. They are only screwed in.
