So lots of talk at the local Gun shops about these hoards of wild pigs tearing up the country side out here in Alberta. I have three others that want to join me on a pig shoot, maybe even get in on the newly announced ear bounty.

Question is where are they? I was told Central Alberta.. lol thats a pretty big place.

Anyone else out there have any information.:ar15:
 
From the number of times it's come up, and the real shortage of actual information, I'm starting to believe that there is more talk than there are pigs on the loose.

Not that there are not pigs out there, just that the numbers are not likely to be up to the coverage they have been getting.

I'm pretty sure you are not going to find them here. There are people who are successful at the wild pigs and they are because they get out and do their homework. There are wild pigs near where I live and I have my cards out to all the farmers who told me about them, when they show up hopefully I'll have the time.
 
I have heard they're in the mayerthorpe and sangudo area. I have been trying to gather infon as well. Still haven't figured out if this a myth.

There's a guy who does canned wild pig hunts around elk island. I might do one, I just want pig meat.
 
Maybe our Southern Ontario cougars have been recaptured and released in Albert to take care of your hogs....haha.

I'm originally from Fox Vegas and go back there at least twice a year to hunt... I haven't seen or heard of any pigs that far north yet. But I'll ask some buddies that still work the oilfields there....

Hog wild is the place in Mayerthorpe that does the wild boar hunts... this is where the free pigs allegedly came from.

He is a little exspensive... there is a guy just over the border in SK... depends where in AB you are:D

I'm starting to beleive this to be an Urban Legend. I am sure that they is a small group loose, but not the biblical plague of beasts that it has been built up to be. I have heard of numerous locations boardering Hwy 43 - including Lac Ste Anne. I would appreciate if an actual photo would get posted, other that the word from a "friend of a guy who...."

There was a picture of a wild sow with piglets running through a crop field somewhere in Alberta on the front page of the western producer a couple of years ago. But I can't remember where.

I'm looking to find them too.
Guess we should just leave them alone longer so they can really start breeding and then will be easy to find like gophers are, eh? :D

I heard tell that there is a bunch of em out around sundre... Me and my buddy are gonna go take a looksie sometime this year.
