On the other hand, I will be more interested in buying a 5.56 open bolt LMG like a Minimi or Negev- at least feeding it is possible.

I would love to see this in Canada. But do you think the ATF would let this be exported to Canada? Somehow I doubt it.........they won't let the PS90, FS2000, LUSA and a host of others. I would think this would be in the same boat. It would be worth a try though.

Why couldn't someone import parts kits from one of the original eastern european source countries, to be assembled in Canada, as a semi auto? Essentially, doing what VLTOR is doing and cutting out the middle man. I'm not saying I'd know how to do it, just hoping one of you might.

Canada lacks the capability. The best method would to be to go to a PKM producing country, have them take new receivers and convert them, like the VZ58 was done. I am surprised nobody has done it with the czech beltfeds yet. But in all reality I don't think our dealers are that hugely motivated to do such a complex deal. They like to import pre-existing rifles, like the VZ's which took several years after they where in production as semi's to make it here.
