Nice!
I was debating on doing a CAR-15 build before I settled on the 653.
Where did you find the delta ring to hold the handguards?
Did you have to modify a set of full length triangular guards or are those actual era guards?

Very cool sir!

Thanks man!

It's a Colt factory part... The upper came fully assembled from the factory's prototype department. It's a heavy barrelled XM607 prototype that I'm guessing was scrapped around the time the XM607 was scrapped altogether. It may very well be the only one in existence! The handguards are just cut-down standard Colt triangular handguards.

To be honest I have No clue lol, and now that you mention it, I noticed now that a lot of ones ive seen dont have that ring attached, maybe it was a custom thing

Seen a few just curious one has to love the mystery of old school stuff.

Here is one me and pops are working on. We kinda started backwards, from the top down. If anyone has a lower that matches the era please p.m. me!

Keep an eye out for a Colt Sp01 in the EE... About the most accurate you're gonna find in Canada.

Im surprised Im not seeing any retro M16A1 builds with all of the parts kits Canadians have bought from us..

Nope! That's the rarest one I have right now! I sure appreciate you guys bringing them in though!

I know its rare now that I cant get another one lol. No problem in bringing that stuff in. I cant keep everything but at least I can live vicariously through our customers. We have more cool rare to rare-ish colt stuff coming. I would love to see someone build a DOE 9mm..

Here's my old girl had her for over 20 years now.

It's an SGW from the 80s before SGW changed the way they made ARs, with a 5.56 barrel, all metal 2 position CAR stock, 6 hole (not the common 7 hole) skinny hand guards, pre A1 pistol grip, narrow CAR 15 style flash hider (was hard to find but I like it better than the longer one).

I have never experienced a jam other than maybe a couple of FTF from crappy mags. It shoots just as accurately as my 1st SP1 20" barrel.

Get lots of questions about the gun anyone who shoots her loves the retro feel.

I went back to the original handle upper gone is the flat top upper, light, laser, the metal picatinny hand guards, red dot, 3 point sling, triangular forend, fancy plastic sliding stock, only kept the sling attachment.

She is light, fun, and feels so much more real.
