Where are you guys getting after-market parts for your m305/m14s?
[mini-rant]

I've searched site sponsor after site sponsor in hopes someone will have something other than a guide rod.
sure dlask has a few parts, but where else can a guy find some?
I'm speaking about things like spring replacements, gas pistons, piston cylinders, trigger parts. (things like Fulton armory, smith enterprises, sadlak)
The EE is full of guys trying to find parts (how many m14's have you built Otokiak?!! :D), myself included. (insert shameless plug here)

Do the Americans just not let these out? Have Canadian firearm retailers not brought these in for a while? Have Canadian manufacturers not found a way to produce quality drop in parts for this large market?
we can get flooded with sh*tty ncstar parts, crapco plastic furniture, magpul out the @ss but no quality parts?

I do know about brownells. The whole $100 limit per order with shipping slowly kills us. Besides, I'd much rather support a Canadian (and cgn sponsor)

Surely I'm not the only person that feels this way or has noticed this?
 
You need to have patience my friend and surf the EE daily. I have acquired luckily most of my USGI parts from fellow CGNer's on the board or the other site CGS or from M14forum in the states depending on the part. I'm in the process of building a shorty 18.5 M14 in .243 and a NM stainless 22 inch in 7.62. I have already had one shorty built by the M14Doctor and own a SAI full length standard. I'll probably wind up purchasing a few LRB M25 receivers in the new year to do other builds. Surf the EE on all 3 of those sites and you should be able to find what you're looking for ... ;)

p.s. I'd love to see the border laws become more lax ... as I'd purchase TON's of parts and do builds ... alas that shizznat is not gonna happen ... :(

Do ya think there would be any benefit to getting a group order/group import done for LRB M25s? I want to purchase one as well, maybe a discount on import costs?
 
USGI stock - Sponsors/Gun shops used to carry these, they have become sparse these last few years. Keep one eye on the EE, or see if anyone would be willing to sell there used Norinco plastic stocks (acceptable replacement)

NM Recoil Spring Guide - Fabsports carries Sadlak parts but have been out of stock on the Spring Guide Rod. Short of waiting for his to come in (I waited 6 months and they never came) you can go with the Badger one from Brownells. Both of these are for a Springfield or Wolff Recoil spring. If you intend to use your Norinco spring you can get a Northeastern Arms (NEA) guide rod that fits the chinese spring perfectly.

Recoil Spring - Wolff Extra Power Recoil Spring or Springfield from Brownells.

Ejector and Extractor springs (for bolt) - 762mm firearms or the Springfield ones from Brownells.

ARMS 18 mount - Wolverine Supplies. They have stock every 6 months or so, so be prepared to go on a waiting list

Bushnelle 10x40mm mildot Elite 3200 - any gun store should be able to order this in, probably 2 week turn around time.

What other parts are there to install?! After all those I'd suggest a lot of trigger time and reloading :)

Or you can shot it as a stock rifle, apparently Hungry say's your #### won't fall off. Personally i didn't want to take the chance :stirthepot2: :sniper:

Now your just fantasizing :) Fulton Armory and Smith Enterprises don't have an export permit so non of their parts are allowed out of the USA. Good luck finding any of their parts in this country. If you do find any, the owner is jealously guarding them or they were illegally brought across the border. All the good stuff you won't find up here mate. I believe the US Marines have a saying, "Make due". Just make due with what you can get and maybe one day we can convince a Canadian company to manufacture some of those nifty parts not allowed up here.

The owner of fulton thinks canada is a nursery for terrorists... Like many misinformed gungho americans do. For this reason , I am told, he will not do business with canadians so he does not need an export permit. This hearsay, but it comes from someone I know, who knows the owners of fulton very well.
Shame really, we all have one thing in common and that is keeping the M14 alive and well.
Smith enterprise has export permits for items that are not liscenced as US military property. Civillian runs of these items are secondary and I would imagine they also look after wholesale orders to US retailers infrequently. Brownells does sell several smith enterprise items that are exportable such as gas pistons, tactical bolt stop, gas lock dovetail sight and a few other odds n ends. ARMS is export liscenced and you can order direct, as was Sadlak but not sure these days if you can deal direct or thru brownells.

Wow, I didn't realize it was that cheap! I had just heard the Questar(I think it was?) numbers and it was like $600? Maybe I'm totally out to lunch. I've actually been thinking of having a whole rifle built and importing it to save on the hassle of trying to independently import every freaking part...

Prophet river are great people to deal with! They helped me out getting some estate guns out of the us, nothing but good things to say about them!

So looking back, it seems a lot of the parts I've actually managed to acquire.
slushee, you've described my build to a T. right down to the arms 18 and Bushnell 10x40 (both of which I luckily bought almost a year ago)

I've got a little trigger time behind it, but to be honest, it wasn't shooting all that stellar, and it was disappointing to not see any improvement when I know I should have been making progress.

as for fulton armoury - that disgusts me a little bit to hear that.

otokiak & i3>m14 - starting to enjoy the parts hunt, maybe once the first one gets built and is up and running it will be more fun.
