OKO Sight Mounting

In anticipation of a dealer bringing OKO sights into Canada, I was wondering if anyone knew how the Czech military mounted theirs to the front upper handguard?
I want to build my current VZ58 into this:

I just mounted the folding stock tonight and now want to make the preps for if/when the OKO sights return. I've seen Norseman's post in the optics sticky but was wondering if anyone knew about how the military did it?
Also, does anyone have a line on the actual Czech military brakes as in the photo?

Thanks in advance!

IIRC they bolted them directly to the hand guard. Not the best idea, and I doubt they are still doing it this way. It would only be useful for CQB in this configuration, IMHO.

Rob,
If you cant use the iron sights anyway with the OKO mount I would use the rear sight mount supplied by MArstar (http://www.marstar.ca/ac-optics/images/VZ58-115-L.jpg) and then relief cut the hand guard (detailed on another thread by suprathepeg I think) so that you can remove the gas assembly without removing the mount. All it takes is slight modification of the hand guard with a dremel and you lose zero ruggedness or functionality. Then use a smaller optic like an Aimpoint micro, Doctor optic, or zeiss z-point to keep the cheek weld respectable (it will be at least as good and probably better than the OKO since they are a very high scope design). This would give you a rock solid mount and also allow you to get at the piston without losing zero on the optic. Just my 2....

Cheers,
