So I inherited a jc higgins semi auto shotgun and with it came 2 full boxes of Western Cartridge 12 gauge 2 3/4 #4 shells in the box. Any value there?

I had some ols shells ( paper hulls) and the guys said they werent of any value. I got um off my old man a few months ago, and he still had them from 30 or so years back. Guys here told me they arent worth any more than new ones.

I was told the same thing until I went to a gunshow a guy there said there are ammo collectors out there who collect the old stuff. Some of em even value the box more thn the shells. Was hopin one of thos ppl would frequent the forums here

Sad as it is to say,my experience has been that your better to sell just the empty boxes. Doing that allows you to tap into an intelligent appreciative market(USA) gunsamerica, ebay, etc. Selling complete will mean selling in canukistan which will mean giving them away...Its like that 92 I'm trying to sell here for a grand. When I have pics the boys hereabouts will continue to play with the 1000$ while when I put it on the GA sight it'll be gone for 16-18 hondred US in a week:eek: but true

"...gunsamerica,ebay,etc..." Their prices don't have any relation to Canadian prices. Most of them are out to lunch Stateside too.

Out to lunch if your the underprivilaged canuck trying to get something for nothing, but bang on in the world stage..Sold and bought lots of stuff states side...Buddy with the old ammo, you let em talk you into giving it away on this side of the border if you like, but theres real money out there. Your choice.

A 92 as in a beretta?? lol i wont tell you the deal i got on one then
I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure he means a beretta yes, as for old shot shells I don't think they have much value themselves better to just sell the box if its in decent condition, still legible ect. Keep the shells for yourself and blast some clays or something, keep a few for old times sake :p .

If you do shoot 'em, be prepared for a helluva stink and lots of yellow gunk in the barrel  My grandpa taught me how to shoot clays when I was about 10 years old with some of his old paper-hull trap loads, MAN did they stink!! He'd had them sitting in a box somewhere for a good 10 to 20 years before he busted 'em out, he was that kinda guy :p If you can sell 'em, go for it...

Blindside, why you whining?

So you won't get the money you will selling across the border, then drop your price if you know that. Bet you don't cry when you find guns for dirt cheap here even though you know what they're worth in the U.S.? Those friggan U.S. auctions are a bunch of rich people upping the prices of pretty much any junk someone puts on there. I'm seeing $60 Savage rifles selling for $300-400 which is just stupid. You just have to learn to buy and SELL at Canadian prices, learn to live with it or get yourself a GB account and start selling all your guns over there for the big dollars but all your doing is getting rid of guns in Canada and they'll most likely never ever find their way back here, just what the liberals want.
