I just got my hands on a bunch of old rifles for a hellova price, and amongst the collection there is 1 super old .22 single shot that the markings on are quite worn off and was hoping someone here could help ID it for me. My other friend was saying it's quite possibly a savage, but though I'd post it here none the less.

old german

Had one some years ago research showed that it was built Erfurt Germany prior to 1918. Some had a brass medallion in the stock. Mine had a worn firing pin, made one from a bit of a car antenna

not much to say besides they work. i had one, accuracy wasnt great because of the very crude sights, but it was intended as a cheap boys rifle.

ive heard stories that years ago a company would get kids to sell packs of garden seeds, and after so many packages, boys would get a rifle like this, and girls would get a doll.

We had several. One was marked .22 long rifle but we forgot and plunked a short into it.
Went in but didn't come out, had to tap it out with a ramrod...
Kind of a dangerous little bugger, it's got two positions for the firing pin, cocked or fired.
Don't make the mistake of lowering it from cocked to fired on a loaded round, seems OK but drop the rifle & ...bang

Welp, had it out on the range today, fired flawlessly. Can't see myself letting go of it any time soon. Got to meet another CGNr that saw this thread too while I was there. All in all, was a good day :D
