Got this old gun from a family friend. Its in rough shape but I've never seen one before.

any info on this old relic? Value or anything? It seems to cycle fine, Has a little brass latch on the butt stock that opens and has little storage in it. Looks like for a cleaning rod and patches.
 
That was, at one point, a Ross training rifle. However, it looks like the stock has been murdered by bubba, and has a large crack in it too. In it's current state, it's a $100, maybe for curiosity value, a $150 gun. Guns in full trim can sell for anywhere between $300 on the low end and $600 for guns in excellent condition.

Actually, Ross made a sporting/target version with a stock similar to yours DVXDUDE, so its probably that and not a cut-down training rifle.
 
What you have is a Ross Cadet 22 from about 1912 --may have bee a spororized training rifle or an actual sporter Cadet. The forend looks to be reshaped, I had a sporter pass through one time that had more of a schnabel forend. A great piece of Candian firearm history. Try searching google for ross rifle or ross cadet 22. It should have a peep sight on rear of bolt. Cheers
