old 22lr ammo

I have a couple of boxes of old 22lr, 100% condition

Dominion Ammunition Division

Super-Clean

On bottom of boxes they are marked, "This Ammunition is the property of the Canadian Government"

Can anyone tell me about the ammo, approximate year and value.

Depending on the colour of the box, quite likely stolen from DND ( if its "white" box with black lettering). If its the much older yellow and dark blue box ( 100 rounds ) it MAY have been legally acquired during WW2 by a serving member. Dad was RCAF groundcrew on some of the BCATP stations and he used to talk of being able to draw a rifle, targets and a 100 rounds - you shot 5 targets, brought back the shot targets and brass and got to keep the other 50 rounds to take home to the farm the next time you got leave. The .303 ball out of the Fairey Battles after a stoppage was cleared was also prime take home but entirely against Reg's. Kayceel

Yes it is the yellow and dark blue boxes.
Any idea what they may be worth?
