Old 30-30, should I use it. Added post with pics.

Thanks to all those who replied. I acquired the rifle when my dad passed away last year, I'm not totally new to firearms but I don't know much about this old stuff. Thanks for the offers, but I think I will keep it.
Just a bit more information for those who were interested and some pics. The rifle is stamped 30 WCF, as well it does say "ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER" on the barrell. The barrell is octagon and 26" long. There doesn't appear to be much, if any blueing left. I wonder if it ever had any?
The wood is pretty rough.
There is some rusting too.
Not sure if you can see it, but the lever has been brazed.
The screws on the cap at the end of the forearm look out of place.
Would it be possible to find original screws for the forearm cap and a lever if I wanted to replace them? How about the wood, just leave it as it? Thanks again for all the comments.

The screw in the fore cap is definitely wrong. It should be a flat slotted one. they can be found. As for the woods, leave as is...they have a history and the metals were originally blued, the way they applied it way back when, was not long lasted. I have many Winnies and they all show wear, some lack of colour...that is normal...the "rusting" you see is the brown patina that the blueing turns to with age, again normal. It is quite a find and should be enjoyed as it was meant to be....take her out and shoot her...she needs that. I hunt with my Octagon 30-30 rifle made in 1906 regularly during hunting season. what a joy to have and hold. My son hunts with me and carries his 1906 - 30-30 round barrel.

That stock is the virtual twin condition wise of my '92 Winchester. I like it. Each scar has a memory attached, if only it could talk.

I have an 1894 in 38-55, from 1899, that I shoot. It'll out shoot my newer 1894 and 94's at 100 yds. Got a few of them older ones but the 38-55 is the most accurate.
