I just acquired a BRNO 7X57 . There are no model markings on it. Left side of reciever stamped ZBROJOVKA BRNO,NARODNI PODNIK.It has single trigger, integral dovetail for scope,2leaf rear sight, barrel band sling swivel and classic stock, checkered with vee shape schanabel fore end. 24in. barrel, butter knife bolt handle.Did they make a 21H with a single trigger?Any info appreciated.

I don't think they made them with a single trigger. I've owned three and they are great rifles. I understand that there is a modification wherein the trigger is modified into a single trigger. I also understand that the modification is not particularly safe. Don't ask me why because I don't know the details.

My 21H has the single trigger, it is factory origonal. When I bought it from Rob Peck here, he told me they are somewhat rare. The trigger is the only thing I do not like about my 21, it is a P.O.C.
These two are the only ones I've ever seen with a single trigger setup.

Just curious, what two digit number is there stamped on the bolt stop side of the reciever, just below the front scope bridge? That will give us date of Mfg.
Here's a pic of mine:

This one was built in 1950 (stamped 50)

Noel, are you sure that is a factory trigger? Look at the trigger guard, it looks like the DST version. One CGN member from back east has one with a single trigger and there was a different member (not Rob), that was selling one too.

Hey Buddy!
The trigger guard is the same as any other I've seen, there is a thin plate that seems to "blank off the area in front, behind and on the sides to hide the rough cut hole in the wood. I am not a real pro at these, but the fine bluing job matches the rest of the bottom metal perfect, unlike alot of "add on" pimp goodies do.

Also, for what it's worth, the trigger has a two stage, military style pull to it. To keep it origonal in case of selling it later on, I polished up an identical trigger from a K98, honed out the first stage in an attempt to get it to break a bit cleaner. It still has some creep but I dare not massage it further.

Noel, one thought is to replace the trigger with a Timney without safety. I believe Western Gun Parts has them for about $65-70.
Very nice rifles, I have one on my "should have bought the d!!n rifle when you had the chance" list. (unfortunately not the only entry on that list)

No. 49 stamp. Trigger opening has metal cover that looks factory also.Is the model no. stamped anywhere? Not able to post pictures ,mine looks same as yours except for recoil pad on mine. Tasco 6x40 scope on it.What is approximate value on these? Trigger is single stage but creepy.

A hardcore Brno fan will may not like the added recoil pad but it isn't bad if they didn't cut the stock to make up for the pad thickness.

I think I paid $725 or so for mine, don't remember too well... it was in very, very clean shape.

I have seen them for the 550 to 1100 range, and then they are on the internet auction sites for obscene prices too.

Thanks for the tip Pat, I rekon I will be going that way PDQ.
Does a smithy have to install them or can I do it?

Single trigger BRNO

My BRNO 7x57 as described at first of this post will fire if trigger is pushed forward with the safety off.Can anyone tell me if this is due to a mod to change this gun to a single trigger?

FWIW, my 8X46MS was at one time a double set trigger and was modified to a two stage , single trigger - I'm not crazy about it since I feel that it is a tad light for a stalking rifle where snap shots may be employed.

It was a good job, just too light.
I'd like to fiind another double set assembly.

Timney triggers are excellent but their big draw-back is their size and the amount of wood that has to be removed in order for them to fiit properly in the rifle.

Rather, I would recommend the Dayton-Traister trigger. It is virtually the same size and configuration at the stock military. They are fully adjustable and available from Brownells or http:// .daytraco.com/Default.asp. Importing them is not a problem as they are less than US$100.00

Here's a photo of the Dayton

Thanks Mauser98, once again you are a big help!
Since purchaseing the other two Brnos now I will have to hold off awhile, but I will keep tabs on this info for sure. Every little bit of wood left in those slim stocks can only be a good thing.

Cheers,
Noel

Just tried mine for you and it does. If you look at how any Mauser trigger is set up(the military style), they all pivot in front of the trigger so it is only the strength of the spring holding it back. Unless they have an adjustable trigger put in place of the origonal mauser trigger I believe all of them will go off when pushed forward.

My Browning High Power has an adjustable and it will not break the sear by pushing it forward.

Your is not any different from mine, hope that helps.
