I went to oil and clean my Browning T-1 Bolt this week as I have not shot it in a while and like to keep the guns in good shape. I notices the stock was rough, fuzzy like fine sandpaper, I was really surprised! When I bought the gun I took it apart to make sure it was not a salt stocked gun, and it was perfectly fine 4 years ago when I bought it. So when I saw what was happening to the stock I new I was in trouble:eek: To my amazement after all these years the salt was active, it started to rust and pit the barrel surface and action, I luckly I took it apart and help stop this process as much as possible by oiling the metal after removing the surface rust. I am now in the process of sealing all inletting and exterior of the stock to stop further deteriation. It sure surprised me that after all these years it would start the SAlt WOOD Process of leaching out the salt:eek: SO to all you Brownig T-1 and T-2 owners go take your gun apart and check for rust! It is a must to make sure your gun does not get ruined! Dale in Thunder Bay:(
