Maybe, though most shotguns seem to have been made with wider stocks than that, at the butt plate.
Truth is, it could be almost anything. Probably what was classified as a "Boys Rifle", which only narrows it down to one of literally hundreds.
Pretty sure Grant wrote four maybe more books on various Boys Rifles, and De Haas wrote a bunch too on single shot rifles.
A long shot would be to take it to the Calgary gun show in spring, or to any of the Edmonton shows, assuming they are back on again, and see if any of the used parts dealers recognize it.

One of the shows ,I had some of my old tools, Stanley planes and such, on display, one was a Butt gauge, Wife asked hubby what's that for, ( Hinge gauge) He said to measure butts and looked at her, I pretended to be deaf, which is not hard to do.
