Old CIL 20 yard sporter target

I remember shooting on those half moon targets back when I was a member of the Kings own Calgary Regimental Military Rifle Assoc. Or KOCR's for short. We use to shoot in the basement of Curry Barracks in Calgary. A dark, dingy poorly lit range, but what the heck it was fun. When I was a junior I use to pair up with Lt. Col. Steve Johnson. Seems we made a winning junior/senior combination for DCRA indoor postal competitions. The rifles used were No. 7's.

Ah the good old days .....

Eric

Yes, remember those days in the 60's well in Army Cadets. Got me into serious rifle competitions. Those half moons were challenging enough using the good old C7's. Gosh I wish I had one of those rifles now; the nostalgia.
And in the 70's we shot the CIL and Winchester sponsored club matches for all those crests and plaques. Fun times and a good challenge. Got me into 3-postion and now decades later shooting Benchrest. The sport stays with you a lifetime.
Must try to get one of those CIL 20yd targets for a fun shoot memory.

Well, I'm hoping to inherit a #7 in about 20 years. My fingers are crossed!

I haven't shot 3P in probably 35 years, but I'm thinking of trying it again, with a pellet rifle this time.

I'll let you know how it goes.. lol.

Prone is fine, I don't mind standing, but I always hated to shoot kneeling.

It's been about the same time for me. Tried a lot of other stuff incl LR handgun silhouette. But keep coming back to 22's.
I have an Annie pellet rile; awesomely accurate! We have an annual get together shooting it outdoors at 20yds benchrest. Lotsa fun for all.
….don't think I'll be around to inherit any C7's....will have to wait intil luck falls on me, lol

Back in the ''olden days'' I'd go with my dad to the Fish & Game Turkey Shoots . There were 5 shooting stations with a random .22 at each . (open sights )_. At $1.00 per shot he would let me have 2 shots after he found a good shooting gun that he won a turkey with . Thats how flippin' old I am Longstud , way older than I look..ha, ha

Sorry for the slow response but received a BANNED for being honest. I love all of the old " Did it with my dad or when I was really young addages" . This is what makes shooting a heritage sport that needs to be passed down. I cant count the young people I have met in the last twenty years that were chomping at the bit at learning to shoot. Didn't matter if it was pistol, rifle ,shotgun or whatever. They had an exceeding desire to learn the proper way to handle a firearm and I don't think it was Zombie Apocalyse related.

I would like to thank all those that PM'd me and sent me targets! We old farts help each other out lol.

That's the way it should be and how most of us were taught. Its a nice feeling to think weve helped someone else that has the same interest in life. Old buzzards ROCK YEAH. IM TIRED NOW AND NEED TO TAKE A NAP HAHA
