Old CIL ammo

That’s cool and in such pristine condition. I’ve started collecting some of the old ammo both in rimfire and shotgun. Think of all the old vintage varieties I shot when I first started into the firearms path. Wish I had them for the collection

Have I have 4 of them, unopened and its super cool. I had 5... I opened one and shot it. It shot pretty well! no failures and grouped just like CCI lol

Shot the standard long version of that as a kid
Dont remember ever seeing Target

The local used to have short or longs
Long rifle was only there occassionally
But they were my preference

Back then the local grocery stores sold the most common ammo seasonally
Hi-power for deer season, 12G for the birds and 22 most of the summer

I had mostly switched to CCI Stingers by then but i still remember how bummed i was when imperial was no longer available
Not positive but i think i read the tools went to Korea

I shot lots of that stuff, including the DND marked boxes with the white label using the C1A1 sub cal kit in the basement range of the BGen Angle armoury in Kelowna.

All full boxes, I bought a brick of the golden box for my uncle for Christmas and the guy had some other stuff kicking around and I bought it all. Kept a few for myself. I just happened to buy the .303br one day when I saw it cause I like the old imperial packaging. This is the start of my collection :)

I think I was buying CIL Wiz-bangs in the early 1960s at the ripe old age of 12. Old hardware store (MacLeans in Hamilton). Needed a permission letter from my parents…and I learned how to sign my mother’s signature to make it happen. Still feel a little bit guilty and I always wondered if the proprietor suspected my ruse. Maybe he knew I was a young budding juvenile gunaholic and he felt sorry for me so he sold me them .22 shorts anyways. Maybe he just wanted me to leave before I drooled over the 6 guns he had on the rack and made them prematurely rust. I think I visited every gun shop in my town every week and my mom finally bought me a Cooey 410g deluxe when I was 14. Grandfather bought me my first BB gun and my first .22 rifle. After that there was no hope and no turning back. I think I still turned out ‘okay’ but the jury is still out on that. lol. Luv you guys…Bill
