Old cleaning rod

Came across this the other day. Does anyone know anything about it? Maybe it's purpose and value? The inscription reads B.C.I Co Pat. Feb.9. 92

Its a shotgun sectional cleaning rod, I haven't encountered a straight one yet.
It took me a long time to sell one for $25 back a year or two.
My rods aren't marked like yours so it would likely increase the price.

Old shotgun rod, not terribly valuable, but very cool implements, have run across a fair few of them over the years.

Thanks for the info guys. It's pretty neat to see how much effort went into a cleaning rod back then.

I have a very similar one. An interesting thing, the handle on mine is almost exactly the same dimensions as a spent 2 3/4" 12 gauge shell; it was designed to allow you to check the chamber length on a shotgun. Very cool.
