old cooey mobel 64

Welcome aboard!

I adore the 64's. As suggested, the original Cooey 64 came with a plastic magazine. These were dropped early in production, and supplanted with a potmetal magazine of "keyhole" profile.

If you require a plastic magazine, you'll need patience. There are still some out there, but it can be an exercise securing one. Ad in the EE, and going to shows are good bets. ESP if you ask vendors at the show, and make arrangements for their next appearance. If you require a metal magazine, they are available in many places, and are still made new by Savage today. (Last new I purchased were at SFRC).

If you have no magazine at all and dunno which style you want, you'll have to look at the rifle. The magazine well for metal magazines is shaped like a skeleton keyhole, and has a hasp forward of the magazine. If a plastic magazine is required, it'll have no "well" but a leaf spring n' guide with the hasp towards the rear.

As suggested, having a rifle currently set up for a plastic magazine is a straightforward conversion to use metal, and may prove easier/better than replacing a plastic one.

I ended up having to fix mine, previous owner cut the grooves down on the back hoping it would fix the ejection issue it was having. Nothing a little q-bond, and some filling couldn't handle.
