Old dirty guns

So I inherited a bubba'd Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III and an Anschutz single shot .22lr from my grandfather, which is great. Problem is, after cleaning them, I'm unsure if he ever cleaned them. I could barely make out the rifling on the .22 prior to cleaning (the bore is shiny and the rifling appears good after cleaning), and the amount of powder residue than came out of the Enfield's bolt was somewhat disturbing. Is there much risk that my grandfather's lack of proper care for the guns has damaged them to the point they're dangerous to use?

As long as all the parts function as they should (bolts lock closed, firing pins stay put until the trigger is pulled, etc..), there shouldn't be any problems. If there is ANY question though...just take them to a gunsmith to be sure.

The rifling on a Lee-Enfield isn't like the rifling on other rifles. It's shallow and isn't cut square. However, not cleaning rarely damages anything. Have the headspace checked though.
