However, if you tell us the barrels have dents, or the bores are all pitted or the action is loose or off face, then you need go no further.
Also, even if it is safe to use, the gun likely has short chambers and even if nitro proofed, it was proofed for the pressures and powder of that time period. Does not mean that it is safe with modern off the shelf ammo. If one does not understand these old guns and the type of ammo that should be shot, then it's best to leave them alone until getting properly educated on them.
