OLD French Ammo

I found this while going through my grandpa's estate. They were kept in a safe dry place for years. I know nothing about older ammo so I was hoping someone could let me know what I have?, what to do with it? or maybe what it's worth? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Oh yeah...on the bottom of the cartridge there is a "CF" and a "star"...if that means anything

Wow, pinfire ammo in that good of shape!
Some collector might pay a good amount as the box itself is worth a few bucks.
I am thinking its worth 5-10 bucks a round and who knows for the box.
I am no collector, just based on gunshow observations.
Dingus is one of the resident antique experts, maybe send him a PM and he could point you in the right direction.

all it has is a C P and a star underneath that.

CD = Chaudun & Deriviere, who operated from 1870-72, according to the source I have. Pretty interesting, thanks for posting.

Dominion (CIL) stopped making .577" Snider ammo c1940 and started importing it from Kynoch thereafter. The pack appears to have a letter date code on it. If you could give me the full code I could look it up. Nice pack.

Kynoch code was numerals and two letters. Numerals were day date , first letter month code and second year. 28 I , 28 february?
