Old Linley drill/mill

Just pick up an old Linley drill/mill, has anyone ever used one of these? Looking well built for a small mill/drill. Came with 12 collects, and drill chuck.
Would anyone have or know where to get a manual for the machine.

Lots of dings and chew marks on that old beast. But if the ways are in good condition and it's cleaned up and adjusted well it should serve for a lot of smaller milling jobs just fine.

The big issue is the lack of table space that will limit the size of your setups if you start getting into additional tooling. But even with that limitation there's still a heap of good gun parts you can make or modify on that machine.

Yep ...think small parts, and also I think it would work well, to open up barrel channels on a custom stock, or mill out material for a good bedding job.
I've bought a small lathe, a milling/drill machine and may Gun stock duplicator. Thinks are going slow, but I'm getting there.
New concrete floor in the shop...next week...I hope, weather permitting.
 
I did a quickie search in the manuals and Brochures sub-forum there (practicalmachinist)and didn't come up with any hits on Linley.
Might post a request on the General forum there. Post pictures and a serial number, if you can, too. Like as not, someone there has access to a manual, otherwise, the one for under $20 is a bargoon! Even for a photocopy.

Nice little machine, should serve well enough.

When you get to the point where it limits you, you will have a MUCH better idea of what your wants vs. needs, in a next machine will be.

If you are going to do a lot of work directly on the table, maybe a sacrificial surface would be in order, otherwise bolt down a vise, and have at!

truth^^^ If and when you ever get to the point where your tools are holding you back then upgrade. I would take this old unit over any brand new Chinese POS any day. The collet set alone is a total score.
