Hello everyone,

I have a lovely (prohibited) converted full auto m14 which I purchased roughly 30 years ago. I am a registered owner/law abiding citizen and have the proper licensing for this gem of a rifle. It's been sitting in my closet collecting dust for 21 years. Is there any way I can legally take this weapon to the range? Any information would be great.

Cheers!

you could take it apart, and re-assemble with a Norinco semi auto m14s/m305 reciever... I think that is the only way it can legally be done right now..

keep voting conservative :)

That's what I thought. My concern is buying a receiver. I would imagine it would be cheaper to buy a complete Norinco M14?? Can you possibly point me in the right direction for used/new receivers? Thank-you for the quick response!

What a damn shame that you cant take that fine rifle to the range. Unfortunately the only way that can be done, is if you buy a stripped Norinco reciever and add all your USGI parts to it, as Bobbynewmark already mentioned.

To answer your question directly, no. The feds missed (avoided) some deadline to renew a provision that let Converted Autos go back and forth to approved ranges. The nation is much safer now. :0( So, there are two things you can do with your old M14. You can sell it to someone else for whatever you can get, but lose your pass key to the superbad guns category. Or, buy a new Chinese Norinco M305 (ie semi M14), and swap in all the high quality USGI parts except for the receiver. Only then can you take 95% of the gun to the range.

Or, correct me if I'm wrong cause I'm just beginning to branch out into the M14 world, but can he purchase an LRB M14 or M25 receiver and swap all his parts into it and maintain the precision USGI specs? Would cost more, but would make an amazing m25 sniper system :D

Well, I'm certainly not willing to sell my M14 so I guess I'll get myself an LRB receiver! Thank-you very much for your responses everyone!

My Advice, Strip the receiver and put it away.Once you get rid of it, you will never be able to get another one.

Take all your USGI parts and build on a legal reciever. If you have the coin, get an LRB receiver.......they are things of beauty..........if not, the Norc receivers are forged and are as dimesionally correct as TRW receivers.

What make is your M-14??? If it is a TRW you are one lucky bastard!!!! ;) :D
