I was just reminiscing - I guess I have reached that age - about an old magazine article I read as a kid. It was about the .338/.378 KT and I cannot remember who penned the article or which rag it was in - maybe Peterson's Hunting or Field & Stream. At any rate it had a bunch of load data, a picture of the "first" .338/.378 KT built and a story about, iirc, Elmer Keith's last Elk.

Does it ring a bell for anyone? I'd sure appreciate a scan of the article if you happen to have one.

Thanks.

Pretty sure it was Ross Seyfried

I think he called his rifle "old yellow" or "old yeller'" or something to that effect?

Rereading your post maybe Bob Hagel?

Read the article and vaguely remember it, but no idea who wrote it.........Could have been Hagel, Jordan, Skelton...........pretty sure it wasn't Seyfried, as it pre-dated him IIRC.

Try a search of Peterson's Hunting, or Guns and Ammo, I'm fairly certain it was in one of those two.

I have that article. It was written by Elmer Keith in the '70's and called "Birth of a 500 yard Elk Buster" I believe. Send me your e-mail address via PM and I will get it scanned and sent to you.

Steve

I've got both articles around somewhere. The second was written by Ross Seyfried - his KT was Oulde Yellow, with a fiddleback maple stock on a Brevex Magnum mauser action.
