One milsurp I own that really surprised me is my Ljungman AG-42B. At a hundred yards, It can put 5 rounds of cheap factory load (Ingman) in less than 2 inches. Not bad for a semi-auto !

That's because it's a myth in the gun community that all semi autos are less accurate then any other action type.
BTW congrats on the Ljungman AG-42B, nice rifles.

I wouldnt say its a myth....the difference can be minimal, but nothing is more consistent then a bolt gun.....except maybe the original gas trap M1's which were retarded accurate for a gas gun.

Depends what you mean by "accuracy" and "expected".
My 1910 Ross shoots utterly scary, but I expected that much, after talking with my grandfather. I sure didn't expect something that will touch bulletholes at 100 if you handload for it.... but that's what I seem to have.
How's 1 inch sound, centre-to-centre, from a completely original 1918 NRF SMLE?
And I certainly didn't expect a Garand that will do better than an inch, but I seem to have lucked into one of those, too.
But I handload: you can create loads for one rifle that will perform in sterling fashion and yet be just so-so in another rifle of the same type, shot the same day wioth shells out of the same box. Same thing with military ammo: most of it will do 2 inches OR LESS in ANY rifle when it is new. Whatever a load is, there will be a rifle somewhere that likes the taste.

It all boils down to: thank our lucky stars.... and have fun!

Damm, ya beat me to it!:D
Certainly looks like my swiss chargers.

Oh by the way, if you saw the "Rough Riders" the actor playing TR had the WRONG gun. Teddy carriee a .38 S&W up Kettle hill (Not San Juan hill) instead of a single action .45.

A lot of MILSURPS exhibit considerable barrel fouling and worn muzzles due to improper use of cleaning rods or pull thrus. A good de-coppering solvent and JB Bore paste treatment will get rid of the fouling and ofter show a quantum leap in accuracy. Worn or puckered/gouged muzzles can be cleaned up or re-crowned. Counter-boring can be helpful if rifling is very eroded at the muzzle.
Apart from that, adjustments to bedding and use of handloads can really bring out the best in a rifle.

Honestly, I have too much fun shooting my milsurps too worry about group measurements. Most of the time I'm shooting offhand up on my hind legs, less accurate, more fun. They all shoot quite well, I'm the factor that puts them off target, but when it feels right, they do their part.
