Well here is my dilemma....I have a choice between 2 brand new Rugers with the exact same prices....they both have blued finishes, 4 5/8" barrels, and are chambered in .44 mag....One is an Old Model Vaquero and the other a New Model Super Blackhawk....Now I'm at the point of pulling my hair out because I can only afford one! (and of course I want both)....So tell me, which one should I buy? What are some of the features they both have/don't have? Help me decide! :runaway:

The Super blackhawk/blackhawk are not legal for CAS due to the adjustable sights, so if you ever think you might try CAS go with the Vaquero, if not, go with the SBH.

Since when? Blackhawks are very common in the CAS but in Modern category.
Have I missed a recent memo???:D

I recently had the same problem, and went with the Super. No regrets here. and the Vaquero's seem to be more common, so I can get one at a later date.

Thanks for all the great input! I believe my decision will be harder than I thought! I'll try and get my hands on a SBH as well so I have the chance to handle both....

If I don't get a chance to handle a SBH, does anyone know if the grip is larger on the SBH compared to the Old Vaquero??? Or do they share the same grip frame?

when it comes to the SBH family, (blue or stainless) the short barrel guns are the same grip size as the "origional" vaqueros. the grips will interchange no problem.

the longer barrel SBH guns with 7-1/2" & longer, have the larger grip frame which is different from the vaquero.

also in case you don't know ruger also made a "bisley vaquero" that is the same gun as the vaquero with a different hammer, trigger & the grip frame.

also with a longer barrel,.....same grips.

my favorite little single six guns, all in the.32 magnum cartridge are the sweetest....
(same grip size frame as the vaquero/BH/SBH)

as you can see, there are many choices....:dancingbanana:
