old once used brass...

Won't make any difference once you put it through the tumbler and clean it all up. Once used is once used.

Depends a little bit on how old--some really old brass might have used mercuric primers which damage the brass cases and should not be re-loaded. Most North American ammo loaded after the early 1920's is ok if the cases have not been damged by corrosion.

Depends on where you get it if it is from you it is perfectly OK,
Pickups off the range can be if'y but ok under the right conditions(an indoor range with rental guns in the round you want has worked for me).
Once fires from a gun show are buyer beware I got burn't once it is just not worth it, for standard stuff, but odd ball stuff it may be your only option.
