Thought I would share some of my family's old hunting photos.
This one was taken in NB around 1937 or '38. My father who is pictured at the far left shot this deer in the back woods and the story he told me was when they were dragging it out along the railway line to Chipman, the train came along and stopped and pick up him, his hunting buddies and deer and drove them to nearest road crossing and let them off there.
This picture was taken in 1947 and shows my father again with a nice buck he shot. I know in them days he was hunting with a model 1895 Marlin in .45-90. When I asked him where the gun was in the picture he told me he couldn't drag the deer and gun out of the woods at the same time. Went back after for the gun. Photo was taken with someone elses gun.
This deer was shot by my father in 1955 at Grand lake NB. He is on the right in the photo and his brother on the left. This deer was spotted swiming accross the lake early one morning. By the time they drove around to the far shore the deer had already come a shore. He said he followed the wet tracks up into the woods and spotted the deer about an hour later and shot it. As you can see it was a monster of a buck. He said when they put it on the roof the roof on the car caved in, so they put it across the trunks and pushed the roof back out.
This buck my father shot (1954) in a field early one morning near his camp, the buck ran towards the lake and when he found it one of the antlers had fallen off. You can see in the photo it only has an antler on one side. The boat was used to bring it around to my uncles shore where ther was a road. Dad is on the left.
This is a photo of Dad and I around 1964 witha nice little buck he shot. Notice the 336 Marlin he is holding, he bought in 1953 and used it until he finished his last season
This buck my father shot in 1994 and was his last year of hunting, he passed away in the spring of 1995 (1923-1995)
