Taken from the pages of the 1947 December Boys' Life magazine. Can you imagine the uproar if someone posted an ad of a GUN in a kids' magazine today?

The changes in gun mentality has changed dramatically.
From having a gun on the front seat to displaying rifles in the back window of a pickup.
Advertising firearms in the local paper eventually crept into the small communities where that was acceptable to now when it is unheard of.
35 years ago I advertised and sold a 44 magnum through an ad in the local rag. In 1967 I bought my first 44 Mag from an ad and got a bunch of reloading material.
Those same papers today will not entertain such ads.
The industry is dictated by persons who don't know or are mislead by "Guvment" and the illinformed"PRESS" and like minded "Sheepeople".

I found these some time ago, just not Rems. Last is Guns & Ammo article from 1982 - 2M Marlin 60s back then.

Great ad. Those were days in which our greatest generation had just returned from WW2 and people still had conservative views on most things including the value of hard work, law and order, church, family, personal responsibility, etc. Boys were encouraged to play sports, study hard at school, help around the house/farm, go hunting, fishing and the like, all so that they would later become contributing members of society with strong family values. Sadly society has gone off on a tangent where none of these things are valued anymore.
