Old rimfire ammo, what is it?

Are those 38 shorts on the top row?

I wish I knew. They're only marked D or E.

first row: diameter 0.317" length 0.929"
second row diameter 0.277" (case) 0.252" (bullet), length 0.885"
third row: diameter 0.226", length 0.544"

I'm new to this but I'd guess the top ones were 32's, not sure about the others. My 32's measure 0.314.

Any of the rimfire cartridges of the pre1900 era can be considered rare in the realm of cartridge collecting.
Decades ago I was in to cartridge collecting in a big way. Sold nearly all of it to duns other stuff. Still have a pile of pre 1900 US military ammo...not much left of the commercial stuff though.
In the old collection there were all the variants of the 32 and 38 rimfires. The mention of the 38 extra long rimfire got my attention. If I recall there was also a 32 extra long rimfire.
