Building up a little ammo collection and I've got these 4 cartridges that have no caliber markings.

Cartridge on the left is a .22 for scale.

Not sure on age or anything other than they are stamped, from left to right; D, H, D, U, H.

Bullet diameter from left to right is .220 , .223, .217, .312, .375.

Intrigued to figure out what these are.

You will have to find some reference material other that minimum head stamps of manufacturers ID you will have to go by measurements . Two many similar calibers and types to just be able to give any Definite identifications . Part of the fun of ammo collecting is doing research . The D= Dominion industry , H= Henry , U = United metallic cartridge company . There are collectors that Specify in just Henry rim fire cartridges and they comand slightly better prices .
Just after your no 6 shot shell that one and the skinny one ,both have some good value . The very last lower shelf to the right ? Projectile ? Can't make it out .

Yea the lower most to the right is just a lead projectile, never seen a bullet like that.

I will continue to do research, was curious if someone might recognized one of them.

Will update the thread with my findings.

Thanks.

Measure the outside diameter of the cases.

I think the one longer than a 22 LR and shorter than a 22 Mag with an inside lubricated bullet could be a 22 Winchester Auto or 22 Remington Auto. The longer one, it is most likely not a .217, the bullets full diameter is inside the case, check it against a 22 WRF, it is shorter than a 22 Mag but still an inside lubricated bullet. The larger ones, 32 rimfire and 38 rimfire I am pretty sure based on how they look but verify with dimensions.

If you like old cartridges get yourself a copy of Cartridges of the World, really cool to look through.

Left to right 12 bore,38 express,9,3x74R,405 CF,40/72 WCF, 38/72WCF,32/40, 38/55,25/25 and another 25/25
The 12 bore is a 100,00$ cartridge
38 ex,,25.00$
9,3x74R,,,6.00$
405 CF 5,00 to 50,00$depending on head stamps or more .
Pretty much the same for the rest of them. Condition ,rarity, caliber and head stamps all have a impact on the values .
So my guess for your straight wall cartridge is a 25/25 .

IF anyone is interested in more detailed pictures or measurements i'm happy to help.

I've actually got 7 rounds that I am unsure of official caliber, going to take some detailed photos and measurements for those and post them up soon.

Pose them besides a known caliber thats close in size .
I have based the prices off what I have seen them priced at and what I have payed for them .
International Ammunition Collectors Association is a great club and resource for information .
I am a ammo hound ,and have a decent knowledge of the common calibers . But there are so many different types and variants I learn new information all the time . I am into experimental, training, special Purpose, African big game, military up to 40mm,Winchester calibers, old black powder ,shot shells and 50 bmg . Haven't really got into head stamps or any specific caliber I just like them all ! Hunting and finding different examples is way fun . Prices will be different in other areas of the country ( out west is more expensive than the eastern ) make friends with the older collectors to see the good stuff and to hear the storys .

Posting this just to keep the info somewhere and on the off chance someone here recognizes something that would be great.

I will continue to try and find the answers via other means as well.
