Old Savage 32-40

[johnrw]

Here are some pics of an old Savage that has been in the family forever. It was originally purchased by my Great Grandfather shortly after he homesteaded here in Alberta (he arrived in 1900) we think it was probably around 1905.

(We also have his original loading tool and bullet mould)

Full octagon barrel as well as the factory peep sight.

Externally I think it's in great shape.

[28 gauge]

Nice old rifle.Must be a joy to still have it in the family after all these years later.

A family treasure for sure, nice to see it still in the hands of your Great-Grandfather's descendants. Certainly appears to have been well taken care of all along the line.

[The Outsider]

Its an early Savage 1899 B.
With the cocking indicator on the bolt, its pre 1908.
32-40 is also one of the rare calibers to find an 1899 in

Nice 99. The .32/40 is hard to find especially in nice shape like yours.
