Lots of great looking modified M305s here, just curious if anyone goes for the "old school" M14 look. Iron sights, walnut/plain fibreglass GI stock, bayo lug/bayo, dummy selector etc.

Some great Vietnam era M14 pics at:

I have two--one is being built up on a Springfield Armoury walnut stock, national match iron sights and will be glas bedded to the stock.

If I came across a gi flash hider I would change it out but I really don't use a bayonet too much any more--getting too old and fat :).

The other will be in a usgi fibreglas stock and will be scoped--irons will still be on it though.

One of the few gun sales I regret is when I sold my all original TRW m-14 many years ago. (although it pains me to admit that the Norc's shoot just as well as it did--but it just felt better.).

old school??

whats with the old school stuff?

mine has a boyds walnut stock and the national match sights wont go on till the snow is gone. i had a scope on it for about 5 minutes and i decided that this one will probably stay pretty much stock. i have shot a few groups
@200m under 4" with the original sights. so it should get better when i swap sights.
maybe in the future i'll build a heavy barrel with optics only but right now this version is working just fine..

I plan on having one of each. My first and current one is wearing a Boyd's stock, and I have a GI flash suppressor/bayonet lug coming. I may look into NM sights, but even if I don't, I am staying with irons. Like you said, "old school".

I call it the "Pvt Pyle" configuration.

I plan on getting/making a shorty as well.

Like Hungry says, "Buy two".

I've got two, one is going to be a shorty for hunting with a scope, ond the other has only had the Hungry's Accuracy improvement course and a stainless steels spring guide. In a GI Birch stock. It's going to stay that way.

ruben, hyman, and moshe are old school- they don't shoot from friday night to saturday night too- so old wing covers fridays- translation- ruben, hyman , and moshe are isreali m14s, wing is a norc- if the pricing ever becomes reasonable again, wing is going to wear a moshe robe
