Cleaning out grandpa's shop and I found 3 boxes of Canuck 20 gauge shot shells and 1 box of Imperial C-I-L 20 gauge are these worth anything? These look older than I am. Don't want to shoot them if they are worth something.

If you really want the paper smell, you can still buy them new from Kent Gamebore.
I'd be saving them.
In fact had quite a collection at my hunting lodge at Delta Marsh until the whole building was swept away in the flood of 2011. Very little was salvageable.

I have quite a few boxes I bought myself and hope to god I am not a grandpa for a few more years 
At least a few of each should be kept and alternated weekly to keeping under your pillow.
I have no sense of smell anymore. The one thing I miss the most is being able to savour the fragrance of a fired paper CIL hull.

I have a whole mess of loose paper ammo and lots of half boxes that I use occasionally when I am shooting - they do not age well, and although they fire well, most have opinholes where the case meets the brass after I eject them, so reloading is a no-go.At least a few of each should be kept and alternated weekly to keeping under your pillow.

They sure are nice to smell after they come out of the gun however!
What amazes me is the difference in loading - who the heck needs a "maximum dram", 1 1/2os of 4's to kill a pheasant??!!

Why not keep some around to remind you of Grampa. Besides, some of these old paper shells are almost like art. You can buy new shells anytime if you want to shoot something. I have a full box of beautiful Purdey paper 16 ga shells. They are lovely, varnished, and purple in colour. I take them out once in a while just to look at them or to show friends. I got lots of other shells to shoot.

I found a few crappy Winchester Universals in the chicken coop when I bought our old farmhouse. It'd be nice to find something a bit better!
Sure would be nice if this were true for a few more generations after ours. *sigh* (Already there's a storage issue.)

As for the smell of paper shells, just talking about that brings back memories from out in the marsh picking up freshly shot paper hulls that where still slightly smoking
Keep them, shoot them or sell them only you( OP) will know the full value of them shells.

I used to love shooting Federal Gold Medal paper trap loads. Don't care what anyone says but they felt like the recoiled much less and just plain had a "smooth" shooting feel about them I swear?!
