Old shotgun shells

I remembered this fall I was given 4 boxes of vintage Ely 2" shells from probably the 1930's and I plan on putting them to use use in my damascus guns. Unless I find out the original boxes and shells are worth something.

I have some old ammo I received after my grandfather passed. He used to have a general store and sold ammo among other things. This stuff has great sentimental value and as such I won't shoot it.

I had some of those 22 shells I still use the cases for bulk rounds I buy now

Thanks Cranky Pants for the pics of the 12 gauge slugs. I didn't realize those were slugs and I probably have a 1/2 doz or so in the mix. How will those be shooting down a fixed full choke barrel? Might put those aside for future when I have a different gun to shoot them in. Thanks to all the answers, now that the torrential downpours have gone I might get out to the range to shoot some of these.

Foster style slugs are perfectly safe in a full choke barrel, they were designed that way. Accuracy is sometimes nothing to write home about but perfectly safe.
A few years ago I used some old Imperial 20 gauge paper hulls in great shape from the early 60's in an old Iver Johnson shotgun. I was surprised by noticeably louder report and sharper recoil. Anybody else experience this?

The only imperial slugs I ever used was in my 16ga full choked 870 and I honestly cannot remember the louder report but to me the sharp recoil was common in pretty much all imperial shotshells even bird shot when compared to others of the day.
I remember using a 5 gallon steel can as a target when shooting these slugs and might hit it 3 out of 5 shots and from not that far away. Probally one foot groups ;) Nothing like what they make today that is for sure. take care
