I took my Dad's old Tobin 12ga double with me to Willow Bunch last week. Knocked down two Prairie Chicken with it. I can still see my Dad dropping two Imperial Special Long Range in the chambers, quietly closing it up. It's time the old shotgun was retired, unless I run across some low pressure shells. The Tobin was my main upland gun for years after my Dad passed away.

Well, like anything, that depends...
Many I have seen were working man’s guns and are in pretty hard shape. They made some very high-grade ones, but they are rare as hens teeth. The design of the action is not sophisticated but it is unique. It kinda a hybrid of a sidelock and a boxlock. I like them for the same reason the OP likes them, there is a family connection. I also like the fact they were manufactured less than an hour from where I live here in SW Ontario. In fact, the original factory building is still standing.

Does it have a case coloured receiver or is it black? And engraving? Is it tight and still “on face”?
