IBTL. He has a rare one with the second barrel being invisible. :p

Take a few moments to think about what you are going to type. It is a single barrel Cooey 840. Depending on actual condition, 840's will run anywhere from $75-$150. If it is in exceptional original (NOT refinished), a bit more.

Lol sorry , he told me it was a double barrel and my eyesight sucks, so I didn't even look at the pics. Got my wife to read what was on the receiver , for me. Sorry :)

Winchester bought out Cooey, set up Winchester Canada. Operated the Cobourg ON plant until it closed.

Looks like a so-so gun, $75.

Thanks, I'll pass it along to him , along with the fact it's not a double barrel... Lol Any idea how old it is?

Probably from the 60's or 70's. It looks like it has had Uncle Nob's spar varnish "refinish". Would still make an awesome truck gun. People sneer at the old single shots, but they can still do the work.

Yes, I have an old single shot ( Stephens I think) it's weighs about 4 lbs and shoots very nice.

Couldn't agree more, I believe that they are the best action. A 4lb carry is great for people that walk miles for upland. 95% of the time if I miss I don't get a second chance anyway so why carry the extra weight in my hands.

I'd say its worth $100 tops, but I'm a Cooey fanboy.

I got that same gun in the late 70's well used from a local sporting goods store. I way overpaid at $25 for it and still have it to this day...haven't shot the poor thing since the LGR came and went.
:) the only action my single shot sees , is New Year's Eve .,

that's not bad, considering it cost me $80 to get mine fixed up and it wasn't a great job.

Don't get me wrong, I have a soft spot for anything "Cooey" and they were well made guns... But that's looking at things from a slightly "collector-ish" stance.

For a practical, day in and day out, bush beater single shot? There are some pretty great new guns around that can be had in the $150 range. And if I wreck it in the bush, who cares?
