Well my Father in law has this old 30WCF and he says it has issues. I checked it out and it's about a 1912 model SRC with the flip up rear sight good to 1000 yards or something. HaHa. The sling mount is one I can't recall seeing and is on the side of the butt and under the front band on the fore stock. I thought it may have been aftermarket but it has the "W" on the top and a 37 on the bottom. The 37 matches all other stampings on the gun.
After pulling the gun apart, no easy task, and cleaning about 100 years of dirt out I am left with one screw that won't go back in. It's the one in the front stock band. Very frustrating to say the least. Threads are good and it just won't go.
On the bright side it seems the issue he was talking about is gone. Clean guns work better. I did run a few snap caps through it and it had a hard time pulling one out of the chamber. I will see if its the same one all the time, maybe its damaged somehow. If it all checks out I plan on shooting the old gun this week.
