Me and a buddy of mine were horsing around on the weekend with an old 30-30 Winchester model 1894. We got to talking and decided to look up exactly how old it is. Turns out the serial number shows it is a 1914 manufacture. Its in great shape, zero rust or pitting, wood and blueing both in very good condition, but no box or paper work. Anyone have an idea on its approximate value?

With a vague description and no pictures and no confirmation it is original not refinished in any way...

$400 to $1500 plus

You really have to post photos for any realistic estimate of value. CONDITION means a lot as do any special order features, half round or octagon barrel, shotgun butt, deluxe wood, pistol grip, takedown, short rifle, special sights, the list is long.

fair enough, i'll try and get some pictures but for the mean time:

-the gun has never been refinished
-strait stock not pistol grip
-round barrel, not half or octagon
-its got the flip up sight, as well as the one that flips up and is mounted on the stock of the gun
-i believe it to be a 20inch barrel but i will double check and confirm

Standard rifles had 26 inch barrels, carbines had 20 inch. All other lengths are either special order or cut off after they left the factory. If yours is 20 inches probably a carbine, will wait for pictures.
