The gun is in very good operational condition. I was told it is very accurate. I still haven't been told whether or not the serial number is below the lever. That would be interesting to find out. The pitting on the receiver could probably cleaned up some. The wood doesn't appear to bad and the sights are all original and in tact. (I think)

Winchester, back in those days, had a very strong custom shop business. If this is one of those rifles, it could add considerably to it's value.

Yes, I was curious as to wether Winchester might have done a 303Br from the custom shop.

clean it up and take it hunting! .30-40 Krag is a great round. that serial number might increase it's value, and as with with most old winchesters, it's worth a lot more down suth the it is here( hope it stays that way, makes buying em a lot easier...)

Yes they did, I have one here. Meana or Winchester could probably tell us more about the markings under the forend. Special order guns are marked under there. They did special barrel lengths, wood grade, butt style and so on.
