Older '94 or new '92

Which would I be better off with in a carbine, a 1969 m94 or a new m92 in .44mag.

Ditto on the .30/30 and the pre 64. The quality of the 1964-early seventies 94's is the worst of the entire production.

I load .44mag don't load 30-30, this one will be for shots under 100m. I've a 6.5x55 tikka for beyond that. So i guess I'm looking at a new '92 then.

To actually answer your question, the Model 92 is an action length designed for a cartridge around the length of the .44 Magnum, and the new Rossi Model 92 with round barrel that I have feeds .44 Magnum very well.
The Model 94 was made in .44 Magnum, but the reports on its reliablilty vary from good to very poor. The action had to be adjusted quite a bit to make it work with the shorter than .30-30 length cartridge.
I would recommend the .44 Magnum in Rossi over a Model 94 in .44 Magnum.
