Have an old North America Arms Grizzly in .308 from the 50's with a Sako L57 action
2 AII's in 308 and 7mm-08
Have a Custom AV in 375 H&H made into a "Handi". Barrel is less than 20" with open sights.

I had three at one point. Kept one of them and will never part with it. I kept the L461 varmint (heavy barrel/beavertail forend) in 222 Rem. its topped with a Vari X III 6.5-20 and is an absolute tack driver with IMR 4198 and 40gr Vmax. I shoot it at max and it shoots 3520fps into a 1/4 inch (5 shots). you can just keep shooting into the same hole all afternoon.

I like my two 75's !

First is my 75 Grey Wolf in .270 win ( #4 action ).
It shoots very well with any factory ammunition and the POI is pretty much the same.

My 75 Varmint HB in .204 Ruger ( #1 action ).
I haven't had the chance to try it yet but I bet its gonna be a tack driver.
I'm still not sure which scope I will mount on this rifle...

I also like the older Deluxe Sako's but they are collector items because they are too nice to shoot IMO.
All the mannlicher models are also very atractive.

I run a Sako A1 .222 rem, cant fault it, its a CRF, factory sights on it, cheek piece , il have to post a photo but solid bit of gear

I, for one, would be thrilled to see a controlled round feed Sako A1. Mine is a push feed.

Do post pics!

I figured I should. It's a .223, I found it in a gun store on consignment, for about the price Brownells was getting for a bare action at the time. Was told the barrel is a Douglas, but have no proof of that, the butt plate, grip cap an safety are all custom to a teardrop motif, quite nicely done, and the timber used is pretty, though it has a check on the other side, and one repair near the safety, indicating to me this was like to have been a talented amateur's work, rather than a 'smith, but I could be wrong.

To fuel the 'it'll explode under the skin' bunch, I recovered 37 grains of a 50 grain spire point bullet, out of the chopped up inside surface of the far side shoulder/leg, after it made a right mess of the lungs and heart on the way through. She took two walking steps and rolled over on her nose, and that show was over.

Cheers
Trev :)

...absolutely the same setup I have...including scope. 50 Sierra Blitz/20.5 IMR 4198 or 40 V-Max same powder and charge. 1/4 MOA off bench all day long

Yep the A1 is a terrific rifle, and the .222 is a classic and well suited to the gun. I just hope your enjoyment isn't diminished when 500 guys finish telling you that it isn't a CRF. :)

I'm liking Rob's rifles a lot! those old first generation Sako full stock carbines were slimmer and trimmer than the next iteration, just a bit more elegant IMHO.

my current collection is like this:
Sako Finnbear AV .25-06 Rem
Sako Finnbear AV .375 H&H
Sako Classic AV .35 Whelen ( custom barrel)
Sako Forester L579 .308 Win
Sako Forester L579 .243 Win
Sako L61R carbine .30-06
Sako 85M Bavarian 7x64
I have also owned a L461 vixen in .222 and a 85 "Greywolf" in .308 that I sold.

My current favourites are the old and the new, the 85 Bavarian 7x64 and the pre-garcia L579 .243. Very different in style, fit and function, but both are excellent rifles.

I have a few sako 85's but my all time favourite is a sako m995 in 7mm rem mag. I also had one in 7mm stw. Very smooth action and accurate... Draw back is they are heavy.

Sako Finnbear Carbine 30-06

According to factory records it is one of only 34 that the factory produced in 1973, then they made virtually none until 1978 when they resumed with a slightly different version.
