Thats interesting. Are you going off of the angle they are carved at and the ruff curves of the "1801"?
OP does it look like a different tool was used and maybe a different depth?
I wonder if he just got a cramp, shifted position and carved slightly in more haste. Or if his attention was distracted by a woman.
